Litas became Lithuania's currency on 25 June 1993 and changed the previous national currency that was Talonas. During this year there the denominations of 1 litas, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 appeared in circulation. For this reason, Lithuania issued the second series of banknotes from 1 litas to 50 litas. Later on, in 1997, the denomination of 200 litas was released and in 2000 there was 500 litas. In this section you will also find commemorative coins of one and two litas.
