Obverse: The centre of the obverse features a stylised coat of arms of Minor Lithuania with a leaping moose depicted within a shield. Above the coat of arms is the inscription LIETUVA, while the year of issue 2025 appears on the left. Along the lower edge runs the curved inscription MAŽOJI LIETUVA. Beneath the coat of arms is the motto SPINDULYS ESMI BEGALINĖS ES ŠVIESOS. The composition is complemented by historical symbols of Minor Lithuania, including sailing ships that emphasise the region’s maritime and trading significance. The outer ring bears 12 stars of the European Union.
Reverse: The reverse of the coin features the common design used on all 2 euro coins: a geographical map of Western Europe positioned on the right side and extending across both the inner and outer parts. The inscription 2 EURO is placed above the map, while the numeral 2 appears against the background of the Atlantic Ocean. The outer ring contains 12 stars arranged on both sides of the map, with vertical lines visually linking the upper and lower stars.
About the coin: This commemorative 2 euro coin is dedicated to the historical and cultural region of Minor Lithuania, which played an important role in the development of Lithuanian literature, culture and national identity. The region is closely associated with the publication of the first Lithuanian books and printed works in the Latin alphabet, as well as with ideas of enlightenment, knowledge and cultural heritage.
