Avers: The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of the poet Manolis Andronicos. The inscription "ΜΑΝΟΛΗΣ ΑΝΔΡΟΝΙΚΟΣ 1919 -1992" and "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" appear in a semicircle on the coin. To the left, at the center, is the year "2019", with a palm twig above it, which is mark of the Greek Mint. The coin's outer ring features the 12 stars of the European Union.
Reverse: Regular 2€ denomination number.
Edge: Minted words "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ ★" (en. "Greece Republic").
About the coin: This 2 euro commemorative coin is dedicated to the celebrated Greek archaeologist, Manolis Andronicos, centennial of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Manolis Andronikos was born in 1919 in Bursa. Professor Andronikos has done extensive archaeological research throughout Greece for a long time, but was recognized worldwide in 1977.
