Obverse: The national side of the coin graphically depicts German Chancellor Will Brant, who pays homage and condolences to all the victims of the Holocaust. To the left of the coin is the year of issue, the mintmark where the coin was minted. The inscription "50 JAHRE KNIEFALL VON WARSCHAU" (50 years for the kneeling of Warsaw) is engraved around the coin. Around the coin are a circle of 12 stars of the European Union.
Reverse: a geographical image of Europe on the common side of the coin.
About the coin: German Chancellor Will Brant is known as a man who has expressed endless condolences to the victims of the Holocaust and World War II. Arriving in Warsaw, Brant walked to the monument and laid a wreath of flowers, knelt on one knee, henceforth known as the Kniefall von Warschau.
