Obverse: The obverse depicted St. Louis's Church, which is the symbol of the German Saarland. This coin depicts St. Ludwig church east facade and bell tower, coins were designed by Friedrich Brenner, whose initials engraved on the right side of the coin. Coins outer ring carved 12-lika European Union stars, and the top of the coin mintage year 2009. The bottom of the coin engraved inscription "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND". Also at the bottom of the coin after lettering "SAARLAND" respectively superimposed mint-numbered where the coin was minted.
Reverse: Regular 2 euro denomination number.
