Obverse: the coin depicts the Pope smiling and holding out his arms. He wears a cassock tied around his waist, with the coat of arms of his pontificate embroidered at the bottom. Around it is the inscriptions 'CITTA' DEL VATICANO' (Vatican City) and '1897-2022', the year marking the 125th anniversary of Pope Paul VI.
Reverse: the normal reverse of the €2 coin.
About the coin: 2022 is the 125th anniversary of the birth of Giovanni Battista Montini, born in Concesio in 1897 and elected Pope in 1963 under the name Paul VI. The Vatican Public Mint is marking the anniversary with a €2 commemorative coin.
