About the coin: in Luxembourg, the universal right to vote and to stand as a candidate was introduced on 26 October 1919. Up to this date, only 25% of men had the right to vote. Before the First World War, there was no powerful feminism movement in Luxembourg, despite the slow development of women's active participation in politics. Only one woman managed to get to Parliament in the first general election in 1919. From 1931 to 1965, there was no woman in the Chamber of Deputies. The first woman came to government in 1967.
