Obverse: The obverse features the official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Around the portrait are inscriptions indicating the monarch’s name, denomination, and issuing country.
Reverse: The reverse depicts the Lion of England – the first heraldic beast in the Queen’s Beasts series, designed by Jody Clark. The lion stands proudly holding a shield, symbolizing strength and authority, set against a finely textured background.
About the coin: This is the first 10-ounce investment coin in the Queen’s Beasts silver bullion series, issued by the Royal Mint in 2017. Struck in .9999 fine silver, the coin has legal tender status in the UK and is exempt from capital gains tax. Each coin is housed in a protective capsule. The series is inspired by the 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, where ten heraldic beasts created by sculptor James Woodford symbolized the Queen’s ancestry and heritage.
