Obverse: on the obverse of the coin, the Ukrainian word "ВОЛЯ" is engraved in stylised letters in two rows. "The coin features two bold lines in two lines with the word 'will'. On the left side, at the top, the Latvian words 'BRĪVĪBA VARA GRIBA' lit. "FREEDOM POWER WILL". On the right-hand side, the names of the countries of Latvia and Ukraine are embossed '"LATVIJA УКРАÏНI".
Reverse: The reverse of the coin depicts a bird with a gilt star. The bird is an image symbolising the future political promise of Ukraine becoming part of the European Union. But not only that. It is also proof and a reminder that the guarantee of freedom is inseparable from the flight of the spirit. The denomination of the coin is embossed on the left side: "5 EURO" and the year "2022" at the bottom.
About the coin: The artist has chosen to focus the perspective of the coin on a single word VOLYA - which has many meanings in his native language: freedom, will, power. The coin has not only a symbolic but also a practical meaning. The Bank of Latvia will donate the proceeds of each coin sold to Ukraine.
