Obverse: The obverse displays the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Chad – a shield with jagged lines and a rising sun above. The shield is supported by a goat and a lion, beneath it lies the insignia of the National Order of Chad and a ribbon with the motto in French UNITE TRAVAIL PROGRES (Unity, Work, Progress). At the top is the inscription REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD, at the bottom the denomination 3000 FRANCS CFA, next to which are the weight and purity 5 TROY OZ .999 FINE SILVER. Year of issue – 2016.
Reverse: The reverse depicts Pharaoh Tutankhamun in profile, wearing the traditional pharaonic headdress and holding the crook and flail – symbols of royal authority. The design resembles carvings found in his tomb, and the coin is rimless, giving it the look of an ancient relic.
About the coin: The 5 oz (155.5 g) silver King Tut coin was struck in 2016. It is the first issue in the Egyptian Relic Series, produced by Scottsdale Mint. The coin features an Antique Proof finish, hand-chiseled edges and an impressive 11.8 mm thickness. Limited mintage – 30,000 pieces. It honors the famous pharaoh Tutankhamun, who ascended the throne at just 9–10 years of age. This coin is not only a rare silver investment piece but also a historical work of art, commemorating one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century – the unearthing of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922.
