About the coin: this silver coin commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. The Warsaw Uprising was an armed uprising against the Nazi occupation of Warsaw, organised by the Armia Krajowa as part of Operation Storm. It began on 1 August 1944 and ended on 3 October of the same year. Although the uprising was directly directed against the occupying forces, it was also aimed at liberating the capital before the Red Army entered.
