The inscription ELIZABETH II is engraved at the top of the coin, and the denomination 5 DOLLARS and the minting year are engraved at the bottom.
Reverse: The composition of the reverse features Canada's national symbol – the Maple Leaf, above which is the inscription CANADA, with the coin's silver purity mark 9999 engraved on both sides of the leaf. For authentication, a small maple leaf with microscopic numbers indicating the minting year is also engraved. At the bottom, the inscription FINE SILVER 1 OZ ARGENT PUR is engraved in a semicircle.
