Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of the USSR with the hammer and sickle over a globe, surrounded by wheat sheaves and topped with a five-pointed star. The denomination “10 РУБЛЕЙ” is shown below.
Reverse: the reverse features two basketball players competing for the ball beneath the basket. Above them is the inscription “ИГРЫ XXII ОЛИМПИАДЫ МОСКВА”, with the Moscow Olympic Games emblem on the right and the year “1979” below.
About the coin: this 10 rubles silver coin was issued in preparation for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. The coin is dedicated to basketball, which was one of the most popular sports in the USSR at the time. These Olympic series coins were struck in silver and became some of the best-known Soviet commemorative coins among collectors.
