About the coin: 2020 Greece € 2 commemorative coin dedicated to the famous Battle of Thermopylae. The Battle of Thermopylae took place through an alliance of Greek urban states led by King Leonid of Sparta. Although many soldiers surrendered or were fired during the battle, his army remained to fight to victory with 300 Spartans and 700 Espians to their deaths. Ancient and modern writers used the Battle of Thermopylae as an example of the power, strength, and communion of the patriotic army.
