The center part shows a heartbeat line, reminiscent of a ribbon that is often worn as a symbol of solidarity in the fight against cancer. At the bottom of the image is a bilingual inscription: "Fight Cancer" in French ("La lutte contre le cancer") above and in Dutch ("De strijd tegen kanker") below. The Royal Netherlands Mint and the current Belgian Mint are below and the designer's initials are to the left below the electrocardiogram.The outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.

About the coin: Around 205 people are diagnosed with cancer every day in Belgium. As a special act of awareness and solidarity, the Royal Belgian Mint has released a uniquely designed 2 euro coin dedicated not only to those directly affected, but also to everyone involved in the cause.
