Avers: The obverse of the coin depicts a portrait of the poet Andreas Kalvos. The inscription "ΑΝΔΡΕΑΣ ΚΑΛΒΟΣ 1792-1869" and "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ" appear in a semicircle on the coin. To the left, at the center, is the year "2019", with a palm twig above it, which is mark of the Greek Mint. The coin's outer ring features the 12 stars of the European Union.
Reverse: Regular 2€ denomination number.
Edge: Minted words "ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ ★" (en. "Greece Republic").
About the coin: This 2 euro commemorative coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the death of one of the most celebrated modern Greek poet Andre Kalvos. Andre Kalvos was born in 1792 y. in Zakynthos, Greece, but like most other members of the Greek aristocratic family, he studied in Italy. In his first works, Italian neoclassical influence is felt to a large extent. The first works of Kalvos were written in Italian. But while spending much of his time in Italy and Switzerland, he wrote about idealized Greece.
