Reverse: the reverse of the coin features a Kookaburra bird perched on a tree branch, with the words "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA" at the top and the year of issue, weight and purity "2011 1 KILO 999 SILVER" at the bottom. The right edge of the coin is engraved with the letter 'P' which is the mintmark of the Perth Mint.
Obverse: The obverse of the coin depicts Queen Elizabeth II, Monarch of Australia. The Queen's name and the name of the State 'ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA' are engraved on the top of the coin, as well as the letters "IRB" (Ian Rank-Broadley) on the left-hand side and the denomination of the coin '30 DOLLARS' on the bottom.
