Obverse: In the center of the coin, in an octagonal cartouche on a shield, the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine is depicted, consisting of allegorical figures of griffins, between which the hryvnia is depicted - the monetary unit of Kievan Rus. The upper part of the obverse depicts the coat of arms of Ukraine and the inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (eng. National Bank of Ukraine). At the bottom, the denomination of the coin ДВI ГРИВНI (eng. Two hryvnia) , the fineness of gold 999.9, the weight 3.11 and the year of issue are engraved.
Reverse: Depicts the Archangel Michael with outstretched wings and a sword in his hand. Archangel Michael is one of the most honorable figures in the Bible, well known for his victory over evil and as the guardian saint of soldiers. Around are minted words ...ЗА НАС І ДУШІ ПРАВЕДНИХ, І СИЛА АРРСТРАТИГА МИХАЇЛА (eng. For us are the Souls of the Righteous and the Power of Archangel Michael).
About the coin: It is an exceptional and well-known Ukrainian gold coin depicting Archangel Michael (guardian of humanity). St. Michael is considered the guardian saint of soldiers in Catholic countries.
