Grandidierite is a rare mineral with a bluish-greenish color. This mineral is one of the ten rarest gems on the planet due to its beauty and characteristics.
It was first found in 1902 in Madagascar. The discoverer of the mineral was the Frenchman Alfred Lacroix, who proposed to name the gem in honor of a scientist named Grandidier. The most important field of the stone has always been and remains Madagascar. Despite the fact that most specimens were found in the last century, now they can sometimes be found in the south of the island in small quantities.
Grandidierite has a turquoise color scheme that resembles ocean waves. A bright shine is always visible on the surface of the stones, and there are also light inclusions. The stones have a transparent and translucent color, their hardness is 7.5 on the Mohs scale. In addition to the main color range, scarlet, brown and yellow specimens are very rarely found among crystals.
Since the mineral is new to gemology, scientists do not know whether it has magical or medicinal properties. Due to the rarity and high cost of the stone, it is not available to everyone. Many esotericists suggest that it attracts financial well-being and love, and also helps to feel self-confidence and develop in many areas of life.
At the moment, the only area of application of the gem is jewelry. Due to the fact that it is mined in limited quantities, accessories are most often made to order. Treated stones are combined with precious metals: silver, platinum, gold.
