About the coin: this 2020 The Queen's Beast Silver Coin is the sixth coin in a series of ten coins. This 10 ounce silver coin was minted by the British Royal Mint. The Plantagenet Falcon, which is depicted on this coin, reached the Queen through Edward IV. On the heraldic shield held by the great falcon in its claws is a smaller falcon resting on golden, unlocked shackles, reflecting Edward IV's claim to the throne. The falcon was later taken over by King Henry VIII and became the royal animal in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.
When her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953, ten mythical creatures guarded the entrance to Westminster Abbey. The beasts of the queen were six-foot-tall statues that symbolized the heritage and history that Queen Elizabeth II inherited the same day. These queen heraldic animals were transferred to this coin series, named in their honor "The Beasts of the Queen," and the issue of this coin series began in 2016, when the Queen of Great Britain became the world's longest-reigning monarch.
