Reverse: the coin's denomination of 20 lires, followed the year of the coin, and the laurel crown is surrounded by the composition. The inscription "* STATO * PONTIFICIO *" (eng. the state of the pope) is inscribed around.

About the coin: Vatican State's 20-lire gold coin with Pope Pius IX. Pope Pius IX is the 255th head of the Catholic Church, serving since 1846.
