Obverse: the obverse of the coin depicts a fourth portrait of Elizabeth II wearing a crown and adorned with Great Britain and Ireland Tiara in the centre. The Queen's name and titles appear around her: 'ELIZABETH II D G REG FID DEF', short for 'Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensatrix'. The initials 'IRB' and the denomination '2 POUNDS' of the engraver Ian Rank-Broadley are also visible.
Reverse: the reverse of the coin shows two Swaledale rams, symbolising family and friendship, with a Chinese symbol between them. The inscription 'YEAR OF THE SHEEP - 2015' appears at the top, followed by the Chinese hieroglyph for 'avi'.
